Royal Collections Gallery Tour: History, Art, and Royal Legacy
We will meet the guide at Plaza de Armería 1, between the Almudena Cathedral and the Royal Palace. And we will walk to the entrance of the monument.
This is an important museum inaugurated in June 2023, which displays an extensive exhibition highlighting the valuable legacy of the Spanish Crown, meticulously preserved over the centuries by the Trastámara, Habsburg and Bourbon dynasties.
Did you know that the Gallery has been closed for a long time due to the size of the palace inventory?
We will first visit the Trastámara era, focusing on key figures such as Queen Isabella I, with her iconic portrait. Next we will enter the Hapsburg Hall, adorned with a variety of tapestries, paintings, sculptures and artifacts from the reigns of Charles I, Philip II, Philip III, Philip IV and Charles II.
The floor dedicated to the Habsburg legacy features masterpieces such as La Roldana’s sculpture, which depicts the Archangel St. Michael triumphing over the devil, and Diego Velázquez’s famous painting “The White Horse,” which captures the essence of equine elegance without a rider.
We will continue with the Bourbons, where a varied collection of the reigns of Philip V, Louis I, Ferdinand VI, Charles III, Charles IV, Ferdinand VII, Isabella II, Alfonso XII and Alfonso XIII awaits us.
After a captivating two-hour exploration, our guided tour of this historical treasure will culminate at its grand entrance.
